An organic compound 'X' is a constituent of wine. ‘X' on reacting with acidified $\ce{K2Cr2O7}$ forms another compound 'Y' with molecular formula $\ce{C2H4O2}$. 'Y' produces brisk effervescence with sodium carbonate.
(i) Identify 'X' and 'Y'.
(ii) Name the gas evolved when 'Y' reacts with sodium carbonate.
(iii) Write the chemical equations involved for the chemical reactions taking place.
